(Rochester, NY) The news is out! Salvatore's is going South to... Jacksonville, Florida!
“We finally found our perfect Florida franchisee & he’s a Rochester guy.” said Salvatore SoccerSam Fantauzzo, CEO/Founder of Salvatore's Pizza.
Ferdinand Formoso was born and raised in Fairport, New York. He graduated from Fairport High School and then received his Bachelor's degree from the University at Buffalo. Following college, he attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed residency and fellowship training at Temple University and is currently a practicing physician in Jacksonville, Florida.
[Dr. Formoso & Family]
Dr. Formoso has been living in Florida for the past 16 years. During that time, he married, started a family and built two medical practices as a dual board certified interventional pain physician. Dr. Formoso has established strong roots in both the business and medical community in the northeast Florida region. He is currently the President-elect of the Duval County Medical Society.
The Formoso family always look forward to returning home to Rochester to visit family and long time friends. Dr. Formoso is extremely grateful for the business connection with Salvatore’s that was inspired by his uncle and aunt, Chuck and Joann Formoso. Chuck and Joann are long standing restaurateurs in Rochester and are dear friends of Sam Fantauzzo, Founder and CEO of Salvatore’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria.
"SoccerSam’s good friend and Salvatore’s Wall of Famer Chuck Formoso from Ristorante Lucano made this connection happen." said Ashley Maria, Salvatore's President of Business Operations.
Salvatore's is excited to announce our newest master franchisee, Dr. Ferdinand Formoso. Dr. Formoso is heading up the expansion of Salvatore’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria in the State of Florida, with the first store opening in Jacksonville, Summer of 2023. More locations to come!
"I am honored beyond words that Sam and his team have accepted me into the Salvatore's family," said Dr. Ferdinand Formoso, "I'm so excited to bring their amazing food to Florida to show the folks here what a real pizza is supposed to taste like!"
“Our goal is to open our first of many out-of-state locations in Jacksonville, Florida on July 5, 2023 -- which is Salvatore's 45th Anniversary date.” said SoccerSam.

"We've already had Dr. Formoso and his Operations Manager Ryan Mickens here in Rochester training at some of our busier locations," said Silvio Fantauzzo, President of Salvatore's Pizza, "We believe with his work ethic and business knowledge that he will be a great asset to our team and an amazing step towards Salvatore's future expansion."
"Bringing Salvatore's to Jacksonville is exciting for many reasons; not only are we bringing the best quality pizza to Jacksonville, we are also able to provide the community with a brand they can trust and stand behind," said Ryan Mickens, Operations Manager for Team Formoso. "I am excited to watch Salvatore's grow in Florida like it has in New York."
"We have met with several candidates over the years to handle our Florida Master Franchises," said SoccerSam, "Dr. Formoso is a perfectionist and puts his heart & soul in anything he does. I know our brand is in good hands with my favorite Doctor and his team!"
When Dr. Formoso isn’t busy with his medical practice and other business ventures, he enjoys golfing, is a long standing member of a wine tasting society, a Jacksonville Jaguar season ticket holder and is a sports car enthusiast. Dr. Formoso is so proud of his family. He and his wife Elisa have been married for 13 years and share two sons and a stepson. When Elisa is not working at the medical practice, she is busy volunteering at their sons’ schools, K9’s for Warriors and several other organizations in Jacksonville.
Keep a lookout for new out-of-state expansions in the works, Salvatore's is growing!
